Homework for 1st - 2nd Grades (M. A. Jones only)

This week you identified various American symbols and their meaning, defined the word "symbol" with your team members, and were able to explain the importance of symbols. You used higher order thinking skills to respond using your Window Notes Organizer to the reading of the poem, American Symbols

For Homework
Homework: Create a symbol that represents your family. Provide a written explanation for  the importance of the symbol and why you chose the symbol. You will present them in class.

Homework for 1st – 2nd Grades (Cascade only)

The Week of September 9th
Before we read the article this week in class on Hieroglyphics, you did an Inductive Word activity. You sorted words from the article into groups that you felt they belonged. Then you created titles for each group.  As the class took a Museum Walk to view the work that was done, you made 3 hypotheses, or guesses. Then as a last step, we read the article together and you were able to find support for or against your 3 hypotheses using the text of the article.

Homework Task:
Cut out your words and form groups now that you have read the article. Come up with titles for each group. Write whether you grouped your words differently this time and tell why (reflection). Bring in your work the week of October 1st. We will discuss  how your word groupings and titles changed.
*Be sure to glue your categories on a piece of paper and white your tiles for each group.  Turn this in along with your written reflection.
